Author Celeste Ng Loves the Hulu Version of Izzy in ‘Little Fires Everywhere’

With so many people are stuck at home under self-isolation and practicing social distancing due to the spread of coronavirus/ covid-19, finding a new entertaining show is just what we all need.

Hulu.

Hulu.

(I’m keeping my fingers crossed Hulu releases the entire season early- considering the current situation.)

I did buy the book, because after watching the first 3 released episodes (the night they came out) - I was craving more and just had to know what happens! (The show is a total of 8 episodes.)

So now I wanted to discuss the differences of Izzy’s character in Celeste Ng’s novel Little Fires Everywhere vs Izzy in Hulu’s adaptation.

Hulu.

Hulu.

Izzy is drawn to Mia (Kerry Washington) as she watches
Elena’s attempts to befriend Mia, and Mia only hating her more for it.

“I loved what that did for Izzy and Mia’s relationship,” Tigelaar said. “I loved the different things that Mia could kind of teach Izzy about herself, that you can grow up to be your own person and find your own place. You don’t have to live in a cookie cutter image of your mother and feel like you’re failing all the time. She could find acceptance for who she was, or who she was becoming.”

Covid-19 Update: CR district - Sunday 3.15.20

MARCH 15 COVID-19 UPDATE: 10:45 AM

Dear CR School Community-

Yesterday, Governor Wolf ordered restrictions already in place in Montgomery and Delaware Countries to be extended to Bucks and Chester Counties, starting today. The directive includes the closure of all non-essential public spaces. Essential businesses like pharmacies, grocery stores, and gas stations will remain open. This order does not directly impact our school district at this time, as we had already announced a two-week closure and had identified a small group of essential personnel who may be in our schools during the closure. Otherwise, no one is permitted to be in our schools until further notice.

While our schools are closed, we will not be providing formal distance learning. That said, tomorrow we will post a plethora of general online educational resources for our students that will be organized by grade-level band and by subject area. These online resources available to students during the closure are not required in any way, will not be graded, and are not intended to replicate in-school instruction, but rather are intended to keep students engaged as learners by maintaining or extending their learning. I want to thank a dedicated group of teachers and administrators for compiling these general resources. Again, those resources will be posted to our web site tomorrow.

It is important to note that while PDE has indicated that they will not penalize schools that fail to meet the required number of school days or instructional minutes as a result of COVID-19 response efforts, and that PDE will be providing school districts with a simplified form to report shortfalls of days/hours, we are currently awaiting additional detail and guidance. For instance, will the state require schools to make up days through June 30th before this waiver will take effect? At this point we simply do not have any certainty in this regard. And, it is for this reason, and knowing that additional closures may become necessary, that I made the decision to not enact the more specific lessons and activities at this time that all of our teachers completed this past Friday. We may still need them at some point between now and the end of the school year. Our teachers worked awfully hard on those plans, and I thank them for that.

A couple quick notes in closing:

  • As I noted on Friday, beginning on Tuesday we will provide breakfast and lunch to all students who qualify for free or reduced school meals. Detailed information has been sent directly to these families.

  • All School Board activities are also suspended for the duration of this closure.

Thank you-
Dr. Robert Fraser
Superintendent of Schools

Barb 🤦🏻‍♀️ - The Bachelor Finale… What’d Ya Think???

The Bachelor Finale.
Hannah Ann is an angle on earth. Madison couldn’t do one thing right.
Peter, still confused- didn’t talk to Hannah Ann for a month after proposing?! (Anyone else catch that little tid bit?! So weird.)

Barb, not happy!
Applauding Hannah Ann when she was telling off her son. Shaking her head to everything with Madison. Making demands in Spanish to her husband to “say something bad”. Craziness was The Bachelor finale, possibly the most dramatic yet!

dōTERRA Hand Gel, Spray, and Wipes Recipes - To Occupy Us and Get Us Through This, Together

Weird times right now.
The weirdest.

Our schools have been closed for two weeks. They are suggesting social distancing. We’re praying we don’t get sick or get someone we love sick.
We’re worried about kids schools, about going crazy in the house for two weeks, people are worried about having enough toilet paper, milk, bread, everything is sold out.

Time is weird.
Death is weird.
All for lack of a better word.

So we cling to keeping busy, figuring it out - because what else can we do?

I woke up researching Homeschool schedules…

and saw this I thought I would share.

dōTERRA recipes for hand gel, hand spray, and hand wipes… can’t hurt right?!

- 15 drops dōTERRA On Guard

- 2/3 cup 60% or higher Rubbing Alcohol (Optional)

- Container of choice (at least 3-4oz)

*Mix the Aloe gel and the hot water together first before adding the rest of the ingredients.

- 1/4 tsp Vitamin E Oil

- 1 tbsp 60% or higher Rubbing Alcohol (optional)

- 15 drops dōTERRA On Guard Essential Oil

- Distilled Water

- Container of choice (at least 3-4oz)

Foaming Hand Soap

- 3 cups Distilled Water

- 3/4 cup Pure Castile Soap

- 15 drops dōTERRA On Guard Essential Oil (or cleaner concentrate)

- 15 drops Wild Orange Essential Oil

- 15 drops Lemon Essential Oil

- Water

- Foaming dispenser of choice

Stir slowly to prevent creating too many bubbles.

Hand Wipes

- 1/4 cup Hot Water

- 2 tbsp Aloe Vera Gel

- 1 & 1/2 cup 60% or higher Rubbing Alcohol (optional)

- 15 drops dōTERRA On Guard Essential Oil (or cleaner concentrate)

- 15 drops Lemon Essential Oil

- Dry wipes or reusable towels

*Mix the Aloe gel and the hot water together first before adding the rest of the ingredients.

*** If you do not have dōTERRA On Guard, you can substitute it with a blend of Cinnamon Essential Oil, Wild Orange Essential Oil and Clove Essential Oil, or try adding your own blend of oils that have cleansing and purifying properties!

Kobe Bryant, Oscar Winner and NBA Superstar, Dies in Helicopter Crash

Updated:

It is now being reported that one of Kobe’s daughters, Gianna (GiGi), was also on the helicopter when it went down. They were believed to be on their way to one of GiGi’s games that Kobe coached at the Mamba Academy.

{The basketball legend and one of his daughters were aboard his private helicopter over Calabasas when it crashed, officials say.}

Kobe Bryant, who starred for 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers and won five NBA championships, died Sunday in a helicopter crash, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Kobe was 41.

The basketball icon and 2018 Oscar winner died aboard his private helicopter when it crashed in Calabasas and started a fire. Five people, including one of his four daughters, Gianna, 13, died in the crash, which is under investigation.

{It was later reported there were 9 people total on the helicopter.}

Deputies responded to the scene near Las Virgenes Road and Willow Glen Street at around 10 a.m., the L.A. County Sheriff's Department's Lost Hills station told KTLA. The helicopter, a Sikorsky S-76B built in 1991, departed John Wayne Airport in Orange County at 9:06 a.m. Sunday, the Times said, citing publicly available flight records.

Kobe was known to regularly take a helicopter to Lakers games from his Orange County home in the Newport Coast community during his career.

Kobe won the best animated short Oscar for his 5-minute autobiographical film Dear Basketball. He wrote, executive produced and lent his voice to the project.

"I don't know if it's possible — I mean, as basketball players, we're really supposed to shut up and dribble," he said in his Oscar acceptance speech. "I'm glad we do a little bit more than that. Thank you Academy for this amazing honor. Thank you John Williams for such a wonderful piece of music. Thank you Verizon for believing in the film. Thank you Mali Carter, without you we wouldn't be here. And to my wife, Vanessa, our daughters, Natalia, Gianna and Bianka, contigo te amo. You are my inspiration. Thank you so much, guys."

He and his wife Vanessa had a fourth daughter, Capri Kobe, in June.

Asked by THR's Scott Feinberg in a 2017 Awards Chatter podcast what he would have done had he not played basketball,

When asked what he would have done had he not played basketball Kobe said: "I'd be writing stories. Storytelling is something that's just a part of me, something that I love every bit as much as I've ever loved basketball, which I'm very fortunate to be able to say."
