"Could Cliff beat up Bruce Lee? Brad would not be able to beat up Bruce Lee, but Cliff maybe could," the Oscar winner said. "If you ask me the question, 'Who would win in a fight: Bruce Lee or Dracula?' It’s the same question. It's a fictional character. If I say Cliff can beat Bruce Lee up, he's a fictional character so he could beat Bruce Lee up.”

The Ways BH90210 honored Luke Perry on the Premiere Episode Last Night
Luke Perry's presence was definitely missed in BH90210.
The new Beverly Hills, 90210 reunion show premiered Wednesday night on Fox and the series -- which blurs the lines between fiction and fantasy with a ultra-meta twist -- addressed Perry's absence more than once throughout the one-hour episode.
Perry, who played heartthrob Dylan McKay from 1990 to 2000 on the original series, passed away on March 4 after suffering a massive stroke. He was 52 years old.
Prior to his death, Perry's 90210 co-stars said the actor expressed that he was very much interested in appearing in the highly-anticipated reboot, even though his role on Riverdale prohibited him from participating in the project full-time.
So how did the cast of BH90210 pay tribute to the former West Beverly High alumnus? Here are the three scenes that tugged on our Luke-loving heartstrings...
1. The Gang's (Almost) All Here:
Fox
When we first pick up with BH90210, the gang is gearing up for a special Beverly Hills, 90210 30-year reunion panel in Las Vegas, NV. After setting up what each actor has been up to in this heightened reality-type world, Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, and Gabrielle Carteris all meet up together in the lobby of their hotel.
"Well, this is weird," Priestley says to the group. "Oh, come on -- we're all thinking it."
"I like that the anniversary brought us together," Carteris sweetly replies. "I can't believe that we are all here."
"I wish that were true," Priestley responds as a somber tune begins to play in the background.
"Well, it's still great to see all you guys," Ziering adds as the long-time friends all begin to embrace each other with heartwarming reunion hugs.
2. Cheers to Luke:

Later in the episode and after their reunion panel, the 90210 gang is bonding, boozing, and sharing a few laughs together while flying on a private jet from Las Vegas to back home in Los Angeles. Spelling, who managed to steal Donna's iconic red prom dress from a glass display in the hotel, is happily wearing the dress and drunkenly explaining to her former co-stars that her act of grand-theft wardrobe is a win for all of them.
"I forgot how much I love all of us together! That was fun, wasn't it?" Spelling exclaims on the plan while gleefully holding a bottle of champagne. "And I got our dress back!"
"Umm, that's not our dress," Garth quickly counters to her best friend.
"Yeah it is. This dress belongs to all of us because this symbolizes everything that we created together. You and you and you and you and you," Spelling says while pointing at all of her co-stars. "And me, and Shannen, and Luke."
"We're not all going to be here forever," Spelling continues, "But we made something that will be."
Priestley then raises his glass and says simply, yet sweetly: "To Luke."
3. "Welcome to Paradise, Man"

In the final scene of the premiere episode, Garth and Spelling are having a BFF cuddle on the couch while an old episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 plays on the TV screen. All of the sudden, Spelling has an idea: "Oh my god, it's right in front of us," she exclaims while gesturing to the show. "90210. This is the time to do a reboot!"
"No," Garth quickly counters. "Have you lost your mind?"
"Maybe," Spelling shares with a laugh. "Maybe going back is just what we all need to move forward."
As the camera pans to the TV screen in Spelling's living room, fans are treated to a classic 90210 beachside moment.
Perry is seen driving Dylan's iconic Porsche and he leans over to Priestley as Brandon Walsh says, "Welcome to paradise, man. Welcome to your dream come true." The screen then lingers on Perry's face and the first episode of BH90210 comes to a close.
BH90210 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Fox.
Separating Facts From Fiction: The Premiere of #BH90210
Fox's meta-revival of Beverly Hills, 90210, BH90210, sees the series' original cast members playing heightened versions of themselves as they try to mount a reboot of their '90s teen soap. The hour-long dramedy is full of Easter eggs for fans — literally, as Jennie Garth has a nightmare about exchanging an egg — but the series is also full of tongue-in-cheek references to the stars' real lives.
The premiere centered on Tori Spelling, Jennie Garth, Gabrielle Carteris, Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green reuniting at a fan convention for the 30th anniversary ofBeverly Hills, 90210, then deciding, after getting the band back together, that they might want to stage their own reboot of the series.
Claim: Tori Spelling lost her v-card to Brian Austin Green
It was a major TV event when Spelling's innocent Donna Martin finally decided to have sex for the first time with her longtime love, Green's David Silver, but on BH90210Spelling made several jokes that insinuated he took her v-card in real life, too.
The Facts: Maybe. Spelling revealed on Lifetime's Celebrity Lie Detector that she did, in fact, sleep with Green while 90210 was still on the air. Whether it was her first time, however, is still up in the air. The faux-reality show in which she and her TV husband star? That's definitely based on any number of Spelling's real-life ventures into reality TV.
Claim: Jennie Garth has split from her third husband
Garth is shown raging against her recently split third husband.
The Facts: While Garth did, in fact, split from her third husband in 2017 and file for divorce in 2018, the pair seem to have reconciled: The duo filed a petition in 2019 to dismiss the divorce proceedings and a spokesperson told People they are "very happy" together.
Claim: Jason Priestly is a hot-headed director who punched an actor on set
Before TV Priestley heads to Vegas for the 90210 convention, he gets into an on-set altercation with an actor he's directing (and punches him in the face).
The Facts: While Priestley is a prolific director (and has helmed dozens of episodes of TV series, including Van Helsing, Rookie Blue, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and Beverly Hills, 90210, as well as the Luke Perry TV movie western Goodnight for Justice), there is no public record of any violent incident happening — nor are there even rumors online of Priestley being ill-tempered at all. And while he has no kids on the series, in real life he's been married since 2005 and has two children.
Claim: Brian Austin Green is married to a pop star
The TV version of Green is a family man, married to pop star Shay (played by La La Anthony) and stay-at-home dad to their three kids.
The Facts: Green has been married to actress Megan Fox since 2010. The two reconciled after Fox filed for divorce a few years ago, and they share three sons together. Green recently told People that his wife still hasn't seen any episodes of the show that made him famous.
Claim: Ian Ziering is married to a fitness influencer
Ziering is peddling a fitness book with his wife, Stacey, who's an author, fitness influencer, and potential new Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member.
The Facts: Ziering's real-life wife, Erin, is actually an influencer of sorts. She writes a blog, At Home With the Zierings, that focuses on fashion, travel, and mothering.
Corinne Foxx Opens Up About Her Dad, Jamie Foxx & Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx are "really happy" together, his daughter says.
Corinne Foxx opened up to People Now about her father's extremely private relationship with the former "Dawson's Creek" this week, breaking her silence on their reported six-year romance.

"They are so great and Katie is always so chic," Corinne said of the couple while discussing their recent appearance at the 2019 Met Gala together. "They were wonderful. [It was] my dad's first Met Gala. I actually felt cool because I went to the Met Gala before him."

Though she clearly felt uncomfortable talking about her father's low-key relationship, she did add that "they're really good, really great."
Katie and Jamie attended the Met Gala together as part of Zac Posen's star-studded group, opting to only pose in group shots together on the event's hectic red carpet, but they did pose for their first-ever photos together inside the event.
Despite their years-long romance, neither actor has ever confirmed that they're together, opting for quiet nights in, walks in Central Park and incognito dinner dates over red carpet events over the years.

‘Descendants’ Cast Keep Cameron Boyce on Texts in the Group Chat
Dove Cameron has been having a hard time processing the death of her friend and Descendants costar Cameron Boyce.
“When I heard about Cameron, I had just woken up early in a London hotel room to the sound of my phone ringing off the hook,” Dove told Seventeen magazine in an interview published on Wednesday, July 31st.
Cameron went on to detail the moment she learned about the death of Boyce on July 6. Her mother’s text “explained what had happened and I immediately phoned Booboo [Stewart], who had already called me twice. We just sobbed without speaking. If there was a word stronger than devastated that could describe the depth of pain that I was feeling, I would use it.”
The Bachelorette Hannah on Jed: “I Deserve Better”
WARNING: Stop reading if you don’t want to know spoilers from Tuesday’s season finale of The Bachelorette.
Hannah Brown went on The Bachelorette in hopes of finding true love — but instead, Tonight we found out that Hannah Brown was left heartbroken after catching her fiancé Jed Wyatt in a web of lies.
“This is not the future I expected,” Brown, 25, who broke up with Wyatt after she discovered he had been dishonest with her about having a girlfriend when he went on the show, tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story. “I’m going through a lot of emotions right now. I’m mad, I’m sad. And other days I’m like, ‘What just happened to me?’ “
Brown and Wyatt had been engaged for five weeks when she received news of PEOPLE’s exclusive interview with the girl Wyatt had been dating when he went on the show, singer-songwriter Haley Stevens.

“It was heartbreaking,” Brown says through tears. “The foundation of what I believe love is is based on honesty and truth. If he loved me, wanted the best for me, why did he not give that to me? He always said he never wanted to hurt me, but he hurt me worse than anybody else did.”

Continues Brown: “I did feel remorse from him, but I still think he tried to justify that [relationship].”

Brown says she was totally unprepared for the bombshell, despite what many perceived as red flags on the show, including when Wyatt himself admitted that he applied to further his music career.
“I was really insecure,” explains Brown. “I knew that no guy was actually there for me because they didn’t know who the Bachelorette was going to be. And I was the dark horse. So, Jed being honest [was] refreshing. He didn’t come for me, but he liked me. And that’s what made me initially start to fall for him.”

What really happened on the night Sharon Tate and her friends were murdered in 1969?
Spoiler alert: Don’t read on if you don’t want to hear lots of details about Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.”)
Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” takes place around the time of the infamous Manson family murders of Sharon Tate and her friends under the dark influence of Charles Manson. The movie deviates — a lot — from what really happened on the night of Aug. 8, 1969, including in the moment when a young Manson follower bails out on her friends before the home invasion.
Did it really happen? Not exactly. But there’s a grain of truth. And seriously, stop reading now if you want to avoid spoilers.
In the film, “Tex” Watson and three female members of the Manson Family drive up to the residence of Tate and Roman Polanski at 10050 Cielo Drive in Benedict Canyon, Los Angeles. (The woman aren’t named, but they seem to be Susan Atkins, also known as Sadie, Patricia Krenwinkel and Linda Kasabian.)
They park the car at the bottom of the street and climb the steep road by foot, until one of the female members, played by Maya Hawke (daughter of “Kill Bill” star Uma Thurman), says she forgot her knife in the car and has to get it. She walks back to the car and drives off, leaving the three to carry out the crime by themselves.
In reality, no one bailed last minute, but there was one accomplice who didn’t take part in the actual murders. In “Helter Skelter: The True Story of the Manson Murders,” author Vincent Bugliosi, the prosecutor in the 1970 trial of Charles Manson, wrote that Kasabian never actually entered the Tate-Polanski residence. Kasabian, according to the book, agreed to testify at length about the Tate-LaBianca murders in exchange for immunity from prosecution.
During Atkins’ testimony, she told the questioning attorney that Kasabian had stayed outside during the murders. And Bugliosi writes that Kasabian herself “admitted to being present at the Tate residence, but claimed she had not participated in the murders.”
Bugliosi also wrote:
Tex then told [Kasabian] to go back and wait by the car in the driveway. Linda did as she was told… Wanting ‘to stop what was happening,’ Linda said, ‘I started running toward the house.’ As she reached the walk, ‘there was a man, a tall man, just coming out of the door, staggering, and he had blood all over his face and he was standing by a post, and we looked into each other’s eyes for a minute, I don’t know however long and I said, ‘oh God, I’m so sorry.’ And then he just fell into the bushes. And then Sadie came running out of the house and I said, ‘Sadie, please make it stop! People are coming’ which wasn’t true, but I wanted to make it stop. And she said, ‘It’s too late.’
Linda turned and ran down the driveway. For what seemed like maybe five minutes, she hid in the bushes near the gate, then climbed the fence again and ran down Cielo to where they had parked the Ford…. She got in the car and had started the engine when ‘all of a sudden they were there.’
Later during the trial, Kasabian testified about “the cutting of the telephone wires; driving back down the hill and parking, then walking back up,” Bugliosi wrote.
At one point, and attorney asked Kasabian: “The fact that you were pregnant, wasn’t that the reason you stayed outside instead of going inside to participate?” She responded, “Whether I was pregnant or not, I would never have killed anybody.”
Bugliosi wrote that “there was no evidence whatsoever that Linda Kasabian had been inside the Tate residence or that she had seen Sharon Tate’s body.”

Besides Tate (played by Margot Robbie in the film), and her unborn baby, those killed on Aug. 9, 1969 were celebrity hairstylist Jay Sebring, aspiring screenwriter Wojciech Frykowski, Folger’s coffee heiress Abigail Folger, and 18-year-old visitor Steven Parent. One night later, the Manson clan murdered Leno and Rosemary LaBianca.
Manson was originally sentenced to death, but his sentence was commuted to life with the possibility of parole when the California Supreme Court’s People v. Anderson invalidated all death sentences prior to 1972. He served out his life sentence and died at age 83 in 2017. Tex Watson was found guilty of murder and imprisoned in 1971. Krenwinkel was also convicted of all counts and sentenced to death, which was also commuted to life in prison. Despite many parole hearings, she remains incarcerated. Atkins received the same sentence as Krenwinkel, but died in 2009.
Of course, in Tarantino’s movie, history gets rewritten.
Critics Love ‘Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood’ – but Saying Why Might Spoil Everything
It’s Quentin Tarantino at his most sublime, say critics
One might expect a spoiler warning for “Avengers: Endgame” or “Game of Thrones,” but not so much for Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood.” And for critics, at Cannes earlier this year and this week as the film comes out, that makes writing reviews a little tricky.
But for devout fans of the “Pulp Fiction” filmmaker, this ninth movie isn’t going to disappoint. While critics noted that Tarantino can get a little too indulgent with his nostalgic, almost rose-tinted depiction of 1969 Hollywood and nods to cinematic history, it’s balanced with moments that take a hard look at Tinseltown’s tendency to mythologize and at the effects that the societal changes that took place at the end of the ’60s had on the world.
And at the end of it all is a finale that Tarantino is hoping critics who got an advanced look will protect. But based on reviews, it’s one that is alternately chilling, moving, and as one would expect with this director, very bloody.
“It’s a work that generates much of its power from surprise, and how it’s willing to diverge from the historical record in ways some may find daring and others disturbing,” said SlashFilm’s Peter Sciretta.
Blending fact with fiction, “Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood” follows Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, in their first performance together. Rick is a cowboy actor being left behind by Hollywood, and Cliff is an easygoing stuntman with a dark past. The two go looking for one last big role together, but end up getting entwined in Hollywood infamy with the murder of Rick’s neighbor, Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie).
The film will be released by Columbia Pictures on July 29. Check out more reviews below.
Pete Hammond, “Deadline”
Set in 1969 at the intersection of a changing film industry and social upheaval, Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film is the one it seems that is closest to its director, and it also happens to be his best.
Peter Travers, “Rolling Stone”
You might not remember everything the way that Quentin Tarantino remembers it in Once Upon a Time in . . . Hollywood. But you won’t forget a second of what the writer-director puts onscreen. It’s Tarantino’s ninth film, and he claims it will be his next-to-last. If so, he’s going out with a bang.
Leah Greenblatt, “EW”
The 56-year-old’s ninth — and so he promises, penultimate — film feels like the sprawling confluence of every last thread in his creative DNA: lock-jawed Westerns, splattery exploitation, sex, sideburns, Nazis, nihilists, femmes who may or may not be fatales. It’s shaggy and self-indulgent and almost scandalously long; and in nearly every moment, pretty glorious.
Michael Rougeau, “Gamespot”
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is much more than a retelling of certain events–in fact, it fails spectacularly at being that. But it succeeds immensely at being a fairy tale–a recounting of a time and place, an attempt to capture the essence of Hollywood’s golden age, one that came to an end in 1969–but, maybe for Tarantino, never really ended at all.
Jordan Ruimy, “World of Reel”
Unlike ‘Django,’ ‘Basterds,’ and, really, any of Tararntino’s movies post-‘Jackie Brown,’ the film takes its time to build up atmosphere and character. This may very well irk some of his newer fans, but for all of us who fell for QT’s cinema back in the 1990s, it is an absolutely welcome, back-to-the-basics structure, juggling a mosaic of characters and story-lines and eventually stringing them together for a relentlessly playful and touching finale.
Peter Bradshaw, “The Guardian”
“Quite simply, I just defy anyone with red blood in their veins not to respond to the crazy bravura of Tarantino’s film-making, not to be bounced around the auditorium at the moment-by-moment enjoyment that this movie delivers – and conversely, of course, to shudder at the horror and cruelty and its hallucinatory aftermath.”
Charles Bramesco, “Birth.Movies.Death.”
“While Tarantino insists he’s got one more in him, there’s a part of me that believes he’d die before he’d willingly put down his camera, and the parties emerging victorious in the delirious grand finale support this much. If he’s getting ready to pack it in, though, this is how you do it. Indulge every nostalgist whim, stare at the feet, get everything you can while you can.”
Richard Lawson, Vanity Fair
“[DiCaprio and Pitt] have a beguiling chemistry. Rick and Cliff almost play as lovers–so tuned into each other, so happy just to be hangin’ out. Cliff consoles Rick’s career insecurities, while Rick takes Cliff along on his various TV shoots and other adventures. They’re a pair of pals content inside their own hazy bubble, Los Angeles sprawling around them like a hug. As they gambol along, they remain witlessly, blissfully unaware of the darkness creeping up toward them, until it’s staring them right in the face.”
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
We finally had the pleasure of seeing Quentin Taratino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ last night.
Now while you may want to go into the movie not knowing anything about it, you also may want to have a slight previous knowledge of the events in history from this time.
If you choose to not know anything… stop reading now.
{Maybe come back after you’ve seen this incredible film.}
One of my first thoughts were- how is it that this is the first time Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are on screen together? They just seem to fit- it seems as if they’ve been friends and almost an on-screen duo for years. Even if you’re into the film- watching them for two hours and forty minutes is worth it.
Quentin Tarantino is known for interweaving fictionalized stories with real historical events. Tarantino famously used that exact format in the expertly made (although frustratingly spelled) Inglourious Basterds. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is similarly structured. The movie is absolutely wonderful, and while you don’t need an encyclopedia of old Hollywood to follow the plot, some knowledge does help.
It would take far too long to go over every single real person or place referenced in the movie; so we’re going to focus on the really important ones that had a major effect on the plot. Here are the true stories behind some of the more important references in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood…
George Spahn And Spahn Ranch
Spahn Ranch was a 55-acre property in Los Angeles County purchased in 1953 by George Spahn. During the height of the popularity of Westerns in Hollywood, the owner built a film set amidst the mountainous terrain, and numerous movies and television shows picked it as a filming location. As other genres began to overtake the Western, the business gradually died off and Spahn focused more on horse rentals.
During the late 1960s, Spahn, who was by this point blind, met Charles Manson and agreed to allow the cult leader and his followers to stay at the ranch in exchange for manual labor performed around the farm and help running the horse rental business. The Manson Family resided at the ranch for most of 1968 and 1969, and Spahn developed a pretty close relationship with numerous members of the cult. He allegedly had a sexual relationship with some of Manson’s female followers and is credited with nicknaming both Tex Watson, who participated in the Tate-LaBianca murders and Squeaky Fromme, who later tried to assassinate US President Gerald Ford. Spahn Ranch burned down in 1970 and Spahn himself died in 1974.
Bruce Lee
There was more to Bruce Lee’s connection to Sharon Tate than Once Upon A Time In Hollywood lets on.
First, many credit Tate’s ex-boyfriend (and Manson family victim) Jay Sebring with helping Bruce Lee get his start in Hollywood. The hairstylist to the stars was impressed by Lee’s skills at a karate tournament in 1964. When a producer mentioned wanting to cast an Asian actor who could fight in an action role, Jay recommended Bruce Lee, who went in for a screen test that eventually led to his breakout role in The Green Hornet.
Over the next several years, Lee taught numerous Hollywood celebrities how to fight in preparation for movie roles including Sharon Tate. He also became buddies with Roman Polanski and they even went on vacation together.
Roman Polanski also allegedly suspected Bruce Lee of the murders for a short time, partly because Lee had lost his glasses around the same time an unknown pair of glasses was found following the murder. Bruce Lee tragically died just a few years after Sharon Tate’s murder at the age of 32.
10050 Cielo Drive
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood includes a scene in which Charles Manson approaches Sharon Tate’s home and asks for Terry. The Terry in question was Terry Melcher. A music producer who worked with The Byrds, The Beach Boys and many others, he was the son of Doris Day and considered both recording an album and making a documentary about the Manson Family. The project eventually fell through and Melcher, along with Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson who was very close to Manson for a time, both decided to end their friendships with the unpredictable cult later. Melcher also moved out of his home at 10050 Cielo Drive, and the owner soon rented the property to Sharon Tate and husband Roman Polanski.
At the time of the murders, there was much speculation that Manson had actually sent his followers to the Cielo Drive home in order to kill Melcher himself, but that has been widely debunked in the time since. What’s more likely is that Manson knew about the house from his time with Melcher and sent his followers there because he knew the layout and knew it was secluded or he sent his followers there to send a message to Melcher.
In Once Upon a Time Manson appears before the killings at the Cielo Drive house. The film implies that Manson was looking for record producer Terry Melcher (the son of Doris Day) who had already moved out before the murders with his girlfriend, Candice Bergen.
In real life Manson was an aspiring musician who was introduced to Melcher, who declined to sign him, by The Beach Boys' Dennis Wilson.
Once Upon a Time offers a revisionist history of the murders and introduces fictitious characters into the blood-soaked narrative, namely Leonardo DiCaprio's actor Rick Dalton and Brad Pitt's stunt double Cliff Booth. Margot Robbie plays Tate, while Polanski has a bit part, played by Rafal Zawierucha. Markham mostly approves of the film, but he bristles at the depiction of Sebring. "I thought Jay was marginalized, and that upset me," he says. "They portrayed him as this sort of houseboy. This was a very powerful man at the time."
Jay Sebring And Sharon Tate’s Relationship
The unusual nature of Jay Sebring and Sharon Tate’s relationship is addressed in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, but the movie ultimately doesn’t dwell on it and asks the audience to accept them as they are without much argument. Ultimately, that seems to be how some in their real lives prior to the tragic murders felt too. Sebring was considered to be one of the leading hairstylist in Hollywood. He worked with many of the most famous actors in the world including Warren Beatty and Paul Newman. He was also a notorious ladies man, though by all accounts, he settled down once he met Sharon. The two dated and were reportedly in love with each other, but she later left him for acclaimed director Roman Polanski.
After the break-up, Sebring flew to Europe and had dinner with both Tate and Polanski. He gave his approval to the relationship and remained intensely close to Tate. She allegedly told her friends and family she felt Sebring needed a traditional partner and a wife, which she couldn’t be in her early 20s. His friends and family were convinced he was still in love with her. Regardless of the specific feelings, they remained a part of each other’s lives, and he was wearing her high school class ring when he was murdered.
The above four references discussed in depth are, of course, just a small sample of those littered throughout Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. There are also dozens of famous actors seen or referenced including Steve McQueen, Cass Elliot from the Mamas and the Papas and heiress Abigail Folger. There are also real life restaurants like El Coyote and Musso and Frank's and numerous movies and TV shows including FBI and Lancer. There is also a ton of effort put into trying to make late 60s Los Angeles appear as authentic as possible from the buildings to the cars to the attitudes and norms of behavior. The effort is ultimately worth it too, as it helps create a sense of place and a feeling of realism throughout the movie's runtime.
Mark Consuelos opens up about the Riverdale tribute episode for Luke Perry
Mark Consuelos opened up to Andy Cohen on Radio Andy about the upcoming tribute to Luke Perry on Riverdale. The CW series' season 4 premiere episode will deal with the death of Luke’'s character, Fred Andrews.
Mark said that the episode will be a "tribute and will address the loss of the character Fred" and confirmed that Fred will die.
"It's heavy, particularly for series star KJ Apa, who plays Archie Andrews, Perry's character's son... They were very, very, very close. So I think to put it behind you a little bit and have some distance from it and then obviously having to deal with it now, it was interesting," Consuelos shared.
Previously, it was reported that Perry's Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Shannen Doherty was joining the episode for an important guest role. Consuelos also confirmed Shannen Doherty's involvement in the episode but did not divulge any specific details about the type of role she'll be playing.
"I just know her [Doherty] and Luke were very, very close until the end," he said, praising series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa for his "knack" for "putting together these pieces and getting people to come on the show."
Doherty's casting was announced at San Diego Comic-Con last week, with her role being said to be a significant one even though her screen-time may not be much. Her character will appear in the season 4 premiere, "Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam."
