‘SNL’ is airing Luke Perry’s Hosted 1993 Episode In Tribute On Saturday
In tribute to Luke, Saturday Night Live will air a 1993 episode, in which he hosted.
The Luke Perry-hosted episode, which originally aired February 6th, 1993, is set to air 10 PM ET before the live show kicks off.
A new episode at its regular time will have Idris Elba (rumored James Bond) as the host.
Luke sadly passed away on Monday after suffering a stroke the week before. He was surrounded by family and friends in the hospital.
The Season 18 episode that Luke Perry hosted also featured Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger as the musical guest. It’s also a memorable episode for being the last regular appearance of Dana Carvey.
While Luke was known for playing Dylan McKay, the cool but troubled high schooler, in Beverly Hills 90210, he also received a second shot of fame with his role as Fred Andrews in Riverdale. The show shut down production to give employees a break. We still aren’t sure how the writers will explain the absence of his character in the show following the break. As Archie Andrew’s father, Luke Perry played an important role in the series.
“We are deeply saddened to learn today about the passing of Luke Perry. A beloved member of the Riverdale, Warner Bros. and CW family,”reads the show’s statement, “Luke was everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all. A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous, and he infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”
Luke Perry is to be buried “amongst the stars” in L.A.’s Forest Lawn Cemetery.
According to a source for RadarOnline, the family wants “to honor him like the icon he is and they are hoping to have a service that will reflect that”.

Luke Perry’s Final Days
‘Crazy Rich Asians 2’ …& 3??
I know I’m crazy late to game, but I FINALLY watched Crazy Rich Asians on the flight home today. I’ve gotten into this bad habit of putting off seeing a film that is an adaptation of a book, aiming to read the book first, ordering the book (in this case, the trilogy) and never actually starting it… until I find myself months later finally seeing the film because I’m annoyed I’m missing out- and then starting the book because I loved the movie so much. Well, I’m there now.
I finished Crazy Rich Asians and immediately thought- there has to be a sequel in the works! I started looking into it right away- turns out- CRA is not just getting a sequel, it’s getting two!
Now that you’re excited- that’s the good news. The not-so-good news is that the second Crazy Rich Asians movie won’t even start filming until 2020.
It seems Crazy Rich Asians director Jon Chu is already set to direct the film adaptation Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony-winning musical In the Heights.
I promise it will be worth the wait to keep Jon Chu and his vision at the helm of the CRA franchise. At least the movie's producer, Nina Jacobson, confirmed that the sequels will shoot back-to-back to minimize the time between Crazy Rich Asians 2 and 3.
“We’ll make it up to [fans] on the back end," she explained, "by shooting two films together."
Cast:
The plan appears to be to reunite the entire Crazy Rich Asians team for the sequels. In August, The Hollywood Reporter reported that producers Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force and John Penotti of Ivanhoe, respectively, were set to return, as was director Jon Chu and screenwriters Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim (who are currently work on the sequel's script, according to Deadline).
Getty Images
While there haven't been official casting announcements yet, it's safe to assume that the entire cast of the first movie (all of whom reportedly have options for a sequel in their contracts) will return, as long as there's a need for their characters in the sequels' stories.
Henry Golding, who plays swoon-worthy leading man Nick Young in the movie, has already gone on the record as saying he's down for sequels.
"I hope there’s something in the future," he told THR in August. "It would be so much fun to get everybody back together, back to sweaty old Singapore."
Plot:
The filmmakers won't have to start from scratch when it comes to plotting the sequels. Crazy Rich Asians is based on a book which is itself part of a trilogy and before CRA even opened, Warner Bros. already had the option for author Kevin Kwan’s entire trilogy. The second and third books in the trilogy are called China Rich Girlfriendand Rich People Problems, respectively.
"We have a plan with Kevin for the next two films,” producer Brad Simpson told The Hollywood Reporterback in August, just after Crazy Rich Asians opened and was clearly headed for massive success.
The movie's mid-credits scene teased the plot of the sequel, with fan favorite (and newly-single) Astrid making eyes at and dancing with the very handsome Charlie Wu (played by Gleealum Harry Shum, Jr.)—who fans of the Crazy Rich Asians books know as her first love.
Expect Astrid and Charlie's second-chance-at-love story to take centerstage in the sequel.
"The idea is to tell the story [of Astrid and Charlie] in the next movie,” Chu explained to THR. "I made a promise to Harry, so I’m going to do it."
One of the biggest reveals in Crazy Rich Asians was that Rachel's father was not dead, as she believed her whole life, but back in China, where her mother had left him when she fled to the United States for a fresh start. In the second book in the series, China Rich Girlfriend, Rachel and Nick travel to China to search for her estranged father—but it's not clear if this plot line will make it into the film adaptation, largely because it's not clear if the Chinese government will cooperate with the sequel. The first movie wasn't released in China until November 30, 2018 (more than three months after its US premiere) and it flopped in the Chinese box office. What's more, the Chinese translation of the 2013 novel was only made available in the country this year, according to THR.
China Rich Girlfriend also features a lot more of Kitty Pong—you know, the gold-digging actress who dumps Alistair for Bernard Tai at the end of the first movie.
"We needed to hire somebody who can really act, because in time she becomes much more significant," Chu, who has clearly been planning on a sequel since day one, said of the character. "I think she’s scared that we’re never going to make that one, but we are. I’ll make it happen."

From Dylan McKay to Fred Andrews. Luke Perry has made his mark on Hollywood, from his breakout role on Beverly Hills, 90210 to his comeback gig on Riverdale.
The actor was born in Ohio on October 11, 1966. He grew up in the Midwestern state before moving to Los Angeles shortly after his high school graduation to pursue a career in acting.
Perry got his start in soap operas. He appeared on Another World from 1988 to 1989. Soon after, he landed his part on 90210.
The Riverdale star was cast as the bad boy of West Beverly High School in the teen drama, which ran on Fox from 1990 to 2000. He starred alongside Tori Spelling (Donna Martin), Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor), Ian Ziering (Steve Sanders), Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh), Jason Priestley (Brandon Walsh) and Brian Austin Green (David Silver).
Perry moved on from his career-launching role before the show ended — and later came back to wrap up his character’s story. He pursued film roles, voiceover work and TV appearances in the meantime.
In 2017, the 8 Seconds actor returned to his roots as Archie Andrews’ (KJ Apa) dad on the CW hit Riverdale. His costars include fellow ‘90s icons Skeet Ulrich, Mädchen Amick and Mark Consuelos, who also play parents of the murderous town’s teens.
Perry wed Rachel Sharp in 1993. The pair welcomed son Jack in 1997 and daughter Sophie in 2000, but they divorced 10 years after tying the knot.
He admitted to Us Weekly in March 2017 that he would not want his daughter to date his character Dylan McKay. “I know that brother,” he quipped. “I know what he’s up to. … He’s absolutely a man of character, so she could do worse. But it wouldn’t be my first pick, no.”
The Oz alum dealt with precancerous growths in 2015. He suffered a massive stroke in February 2019 and died less than a week later.

90210 is coming back!!! Sort of…
90210 is back! Again, sort of…
Fox announced their plans to reunite the cast of Beverly Hills 90210, the 90’s pop-culture phenomenon, for a six-episode summer event series.
The six-episode event series will be following the original cast of 90210 - as fictional versions of themselves. It's a scripted series a la Curb Your Enthusiasm.
The CW previously had a reboot with new and returning cast members, this will be different, not a true 90210 revival, but instead a scripted series about them getting back together for a revival. According to Fox, the show will have a "healthy dose of irreverence – that is inspired by their real lives and relationships." The show will pick up with the cast having gone their separate ways after the original series ended 19 years ago and looks at what happens next when they get back together for a potential revival.
Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling are returning. Luke Perry was not set to participate in the reboot due to scheduling with Riverdale, although Tori Spelling has said he will try to appear when he can.
"Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation," Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox, said in a statement. "Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network's DNA—bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters—and we're honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210."
