Author Celeste Ng Loves the Hulu Version of Izzy in ‘Little Fires Everywhere’

With so many people are stuck at home under self-isolation and practicing social distancing due to the spread of coronavirus/ covid-19, finding a new entertaining show is just what we all need.

Hulu.

(I’m keeping my fingers crossed Hulu releases the entire season early- considering the current situation.)

I did buy the book, because after watching the first 3 released episodes (the night they came out) - I was craving more and just had to know what happens! (The show is a total of 8 episodes.)

So now I wanted to discuss the differences of Izzy’s character in Celeste Ng’s novel Little Fires Everywhere vs Izzy in Hulu’s adaptation.

Hulu.

Izzy is drawn to Mia (Kerry Washington) as she watches
Elena’s attempts to befriend Mia, and Mia only hating her more for it.

“I loved what that did for Izzy and Mia’s relationship,” Tigelaar said. “I loved the different things that Mia could kind of teach Izzy about herself, that you can grow up to be your own person and find your own place. You don’t have to live in a cookie cutter image of your mother and feel like you’re failing all the time. She could find acceptance for who she was, or who she was becoming.”
